A Room of Ritual and Calm

The card room at Luck & Cinder is a dedicated space where the clink of chips and the shuffle of cards create a rhythm all their own. It is designed for focus and camaraderie, with warm lighting, botanical line drawings on the walls, and tables that invite you to settle in for a long, relaxed evening.

  • The room features four physical poker tables, each with a felt surface in deep forest green.
  • Seating is arranged to encourage conversation and comfortable play.
  • The atmosphere is relaxed yet refined, echoing the restaurant's high roller spirit without pretension.

Tables and Seating

Each of the four poker tables is crafted from solid timber, with a smooth felt surface in forest green. The chairs are upholstered in a muted terracotta fabric, providing comfort for long sessions. The room is arranged to allow easy movement between tables and the bar area.

  • Tables are round, seating up to eight players each.
  • Lighting is adjustable, with warm pendant lamps above each table.
  • The room includes a small sideboard with card decks, chip trays, and water carafes.

Respect the Table

Poker is a social game, and good etiquette is essential. Always wait for the current hand to finish before taking a seat. Keep your cards on the table and avoid discussing your hand while it is in play. Be mindful of your chip stack and avoid splashing the pot.

  • Act in turn and avoid slow play.
  • Keep conversation friendly and avoid distracting others during a hand.
  • Respect the dealer and other players at all times.

Rituals of the Room

The Shuffle and Cut

Before each hand, the dealer performs a ritual shuffle and offers the deck for a cut. This simple act sets the tone for the game, a moment of focus and anticipation. Players are encouraged to participate by cutting the deck when offered.

  • The shuffle is always done in view of the players.
  • The cut is a sign of trust and fairness.

The First Deal

The first deal of the evening is often accompanied by a brief welcome from the dealer, acknowledging the communal nature of the game. It is a moment to settle in, adjust your chips, and prepare for the hands ahead.

  • New players are introduced to the table.
  • The dealer may explain the house rules before play begins.

Tournament Structure

Our Texas Hold'em tournaments are friendly competitions with a relaxed pace. Each player receives a chips-only table allocation at the start, which is used exclusively for play at the table. There are no monetary stakes; the focus is on skill, strategy, and enjoyment.

Chips Only
  • Tournaments are scheduled on select evenings; check the calendar for dates.
  • Blinds increase gradually to keep the game moving.
  • A tournament typically lasts 2-3 hours.

Joining a Tournament

To join, simply arrive before the start time and register with the host. Seating is limited to the table capacity, so arriving early is recommended. You will be assigned a seat and given your chip allocation.

  • Registration is free and on a first-come basis.
  • No prior experience is necessary; the dealer will explain the basics if needed.
